Will this clear bra yellow or crack under any environmental conditions?
No. Our paint protection film offers anti-yellowing, UV resistant, and self-healing technology that will give you long lasting protection.
Do you provide a warranty?
XPEL paint protection film (PPF) is warrantied for 10 Years against delamination, yellowing, bubbling, and cracking. If you ever have any issues with the PPF, please contact us and we’ll get your warranty started.
How does the self-healing work?
Self-healing works whenever the paint protection film is exposed to heat, whether from the sun or a heat gun, removing minor swirl marks or other imperfections.
Will paint with and without Paint Protection Film fade differently?
No. The area protected with Paint Protection Film will fade at the same rate as the unprotected area.
Polarized sunglasses make Paint Protection Film look iridescent. Is this normal?
This is purely an interaction between the light reflected from the car surface through the film and polarized glasses. Light reflected from the surface is polarized in different directions and each polarization propagates through the film differently. This is an inherent feature of the film as it gets oriented to some degree during the installation. A good analogy would be looking at a screen of an ATM machine in polarized glasses – you can see a normal screen when you look straight at it and then you tilt your head and see a black screen.
Can Paint Protection Film be applied over repaired/fresh paint?
Paint Protection Film is designed and warrantied when applied to original paint. Issues with aftermarket/repaired paint are not warranted by STEK. If you choose to still have STEK Paint Protection Film installed over fresh paint, the common waiting period is 30 days for the paint to outgas.
Should I wax my car prior to Paint Protection Film installation?
It is not recommended to apply wax or any coatings to your vehicle prior to having XPEL Paint Protection Film installed. Any waxes or coatings can interfere with the proper adhesion of the film to the vehicle.
How soon after installation can I drive my vehicle?
Installation usually takes 1-3 days depending on the coverage you are getting. We make sure your vehicle is ready to drive when you come pick it up.
How do I remove Paint Protection Film?
The film should be lifted at a 45-degree angle and pull towards yourself, this will cause the adhesive to release. Do not fold the film over on itself and rip it off, this can leave adhesive behind. In cold weather environments, we recommend a steamer to aid in softening the film/adhesive for removal.
Is the installation process for Altered Black Paint Protection Film any different than PPF C or Matte?
No, the installation process for Altered Black PPF is the same as PPF C and Matte. Removal directions are the same as well.
Can I wax Paint Protection Film Matte?
Yes, you can. We highly suggest getting a wax or paint sealant specifically made for your matte finish.
Can I take my car through a pressure wash with Paint Protection Film?
Yes, pressure car washes are safe as long as it isn’t fully aiming at the edges of your vehicle’s paint protection film. Getting the pressure washer too close to the paint protection film can cause bubbling or may lift up the film.
Can I wax Paint Protection Film Matte?
Some waxes will add a level of gloss to PPFMatte. However, there are waxes on the market specifically for matte finishes. Waxing is still recommended for added protection.
Can “coatings” be applied to Paint Protection Film?
Ceramic coatings that are made specifically for paint protection film can be applied for added gloss and protection.
If there is a stain that won’t wash off, what do I do?
In cases of stains that won’t come off using a regular car wash method, you can try rubbing alcohol or a light polish.
